Travel Cambodia Kachah jungle trek three days

The primary forrest. Giant trees, beautiful jungle and we the only people!

Kachah cemetery. In many aspects this cemetery is almost a copy of the famous Tampoun cemetery in Voensai. The only question remains 'who copied from who?'

On the river banks of the Tonle San you can witness some of the daily activities of Kachah people.

Beautiful sceneries during this trek. Here you can see a glimpse of the Tonle San gently flowing.

Beauty is waiting to be discovered! A tour research brought us to areas with breath-taking remote views, a wonderful waterfall and areas of untouched primary forest . The three step waterfall measures at least 40 meters and the pool at the bottom is waiting to rinse the sweat of your body!

The first foreign travellers were brought to this natural area by our company. This adds a more exclusive value to the trek.
The scenic view is very diverse. Experience a boat trip on the Tonle San river. Spot rare birds on its shores, locals fishing , water buffalo’s cooling off with white egrets on their backs. The Tonle San winds ahead of you revealing a breathtaking scenery of the majestic mountains in the distance.

The nature on this three day trek is anything but boring. Remote views contrasting the enclosed jungle. Bamboo forests, rocky hills, mountains, small streams*. The huge trees of the primary forest makes mankind feel very small. The trek through the primary forest is really of the beaten track. At some areas, wildlife tracks are the only paths available. Your foot prints mix with the foot prints of the giant Gaur: a wild buffalo.

The Kachah people are very friendly and will often invite you in to their homes. According to the season you can watch their daily activities.

Khmer rouge
During the Khmer Rouge regime, Kachah people were close involved. Many villagers were forced to hard labour. Men were forced to join the armed forces. People were executed. An attempt to mass murder the whole village was about to be a fact. For uncertain reasons they were kept alive. The mass grave dug by the villagers for this purpose can still be seen. A dam complex was build in order to gain two rice crops each year. Remnants of this structure are silence witnesses today.

We spend two nights during this trek. One night near the waterfall and one at a tribal family. Each has its own charm.
*some streams run out of water in the late dry season.
