Travel Cambodia Kachah day trip Ratanakiri

One day trip to Kachah cemetery
By car we take you to Kachon. Our boat is waiting to take you for a half hour trip on the Tonle San river to Koah Piek. We visit the village and its surroundings.

We show you the remnants of the Khmer Rouge. The dam and the mass grave where the K. R. leaders wanted to bury the villagers to be executed. By miracle they escaped their death sentence. The survivors now live a peaceful life.

In order to gain two harvests of rice each year, the villagers and people from surrounding villages were forced to hard labour to construct a massive dam. The water basin was located in a flat area which had to be dug out of course by hand. People were poorly fed while doing the hard labour. People were tortured if they didn't work hard enough. The was no second chance. The second change was to be killed.

The Kachah cemetery shows a remarkable resemblance of Tampoun cemetery. On the way back we stop to visit a Krueng village.
